LASD Father Unveils Highway Sign Dedicated to Slain Son Deputy Shayne York
...Sheriff Jim McDonnell and Mr. Dan York unveiled the “Deputy Shayne Daniel York Los Angeles County Sheriff Memorial Highway” sign, dedicating the stretch of Interstate Highway 5, between Newhall Ranch Road and Hasley Canyon Road in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County – Castaic, to Shayne’s honor.
Violent, Property and Part I crimes increases in LASD area during the seventh month of 2016 compared to the same time period in 2015. Overall, the 5-year increase in Violent crime continues.

13-Year-Old Leukemia Patient Receives a Hero’s Welcome at Industry Sheriff’s Station
On Tuesday, May 3, 2016, Industry Sheriff’s Station Deputy Marianne Oliver responded to a call for service to assist 13-year-old Julian Cardenas. When she met with him, she learned that, back in February, Julian experienced an unusual bout of severe back pain. Julian was examined by doctors and diagnosed with leukemia.
# LASD South Los Angeles Station Fundraiser for Slain Dallas Police Officers
On Tuesday, July 12, 2016, a fundraiser was held and over $8,000 was raised for the slain Dallas, Texas police officers. One of the Dallas Police Officers, Lorne Ahrens, worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, at Lennox and Lancaster Sheriff's Stations as a Law Enforcement Technician/Dispatcher.
