On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County are invited to join forces with thousands of communities’ nationwide for the 34th Annual “National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Department. The event will involve more than 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world. More than 35 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime” on August 1, 2017.

National Night Out is a nationwide crime and drug prevention awareness campaign design to generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts. It strengthens neighborhood spirit and law enforcement- community partnership to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting crimes.

On August 1, 2017, residents in neighborhoods throughout the County and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement. Many neighborhoods throughout the County will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, and flashlight walks. Listed below are the Department’s patrol stations that will be hosting or participating in various activities in their respective station areas. Although the official date for National Night Out is August 1, 2017, some stations have scheduled their Community Night Out events on different dates as indicated.

NORTH PATROL DIVISION
Lancaster Station-Unincorporated Area of Lake Los Angeles

On August 1, 2017, Lancaster Station and the unincorporated area of Lake Los Angeles will be hosting National Night Out, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Sorenson Park (16801 East Avenue P, Lake Los Angeles). Community members will be able to visit and talk to the community relations staff on the latest crime trends and statistics and learn strategies to address crime in the area. Lancaster Station-Unincorporated Area of Antelope Acres

On August 1, 2017, Lancaster Station and the unincorporated area Antelope Acres will be hosting National Night Out, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Antelope Acres Community Center (8812 West Avenue E-8, behind the Fire Station). The event will include business and community members will be able to visit and talk to the community relations staff on the latest crime trends and statistics and learn strategies to address crime in the area. Lancaster Station- City of Lancaster

On August 3, 2017, Lancaster Station in the city of Lancaster will be hosting their National Night Out, 4:00 p.m.to 8 00 p.m., in conjunction with the local Farmer's Market along Lancaster Boulevard. The cross streets of the event are Ehrilich Avenue and Kettering Street. Lancaster Boulevard will be cordoned off for the event, which is sponsored as a city of Lancaster and will include show cars and a booth from the Department. Local non-profit organizations and businesses will also be represented such as Department of Animal Control, Probation Department, and the U.S. Forest Service. Malibu/Lost Hills Station

On August 1, 2017, Malibu/Lost Hills Station will be hosting two annual National Night Out events. The first will be at Bernice Bennett Park in Westlake Village (31800 Village Center Road), 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The second event will be at the dead end of Principio Drive, Malibu West, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All residents and city officials are invited to attend this event and encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, food, and beverages. This event will have law enforcement representatives join the community they serve to discuss public safety and related community matters. Marina Del Rey Station

On August 1, 2017, Marina Del Rey Station will be celebrating National Night Out, 6:00 p.m. at 9:00 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church (5040 La Tijera Boulevard, Los Angeles). This year's event will bring together Marina Del Rey patrol deputies and the community in fellowship in an informal dinner setting. This night will be an “Evening of Dialogue” with over 250 community members attending to discuss relevant concerns pertaining to Marina Del Rey's station policing of the Marina Del Rey, View Park, Ladera Heights, and Windsor Hills communities.
