Reckless DUI Driver Arrested After Pursuit / Crash
Incident Began May 3, 2012, 2:15 PM
At approximately 2:15 pm, East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station began receiving phone calls regarding a male Hispanic in a white Chevy Tahoe, parked near Clara Park in the city of Cudahy.
The callers indicated the driver of the Tahoe appeared to be drunk and passed out in the driver’s seat. As desk personnel were typing in details of the call, the male drove off, colliding with two parked cars and sideswiping a third vehicle driving in the 4800 block of Clara Street.
Two responding units located the Tahoe, northbound in the 6200 block of Atlantic Avenue driving erratically, with noticeable collision damage. When the deputies attempted to pull the driver over, he refused to stop, eventually driving through two red lights.
At Atlantic Avenue and 55th Street, the Tahoe collided with a black Honda Accord and a white Toyota 4Runner, disabling all three of the vehicles. The deputies were then able to immediately take the driver into custody.
Two males in the Honda Accord and one female in the Toyota 4Runner sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
The suspect sustained minor injuries and was also transported to a local hospital for treatment, prior to being booked at East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station for a number of felony charges, including felony Drunk Driving, resulting in injury.
There is no further information at this time.
